Enea är ett globalt ledande mjukvarubolag inom realtidsoperativsystem (RTOS) med cirka 10 procent av den globala marknaden. Eneas långa erfarenhet inom telekom har resulterat i att fem miljarder samtal per dag är beroende av bolagets teknik eftersom tekniken sitter i mer än hälften av världens 8 miljoner basstationer och i 75 procent av 4G-basstationerna. Bolagets konkurrensnackdel ligger främst i beroendet av stora kunder. Ericsson och Nokia står för cirka en fjärdedel av intäkterna efter köpet av Openwave Mobility för 90 MUSDEnea har lagt om affärsmodellen till SaaS vilket har resulterat i stabilare återkommande intäkter. Kunderna betalar en periodbaserad licensavgift per ingenjör när de utvecklar sina produkter med hjälp av Eneas teknik. Bolaget tjänar i vissa fall även royaltyintäkter per såld enhet med Enea-teknologi. Inom konsultdelen gäller vanlig projekt- eller timdebitering. Enea investerar över 20 procent av intäkterna inom FoU, i synnerhet inom open source och NFV. Affärsmodellen för open source bygger på försäljning av omkringliggande mjukvara, support och underhåll. Bolaget är listat på Small Cap.
