Lipigon today announced positive news for its Project 3, P3. Its partner, HitGen, has successfully found lead small molecules that bind to the target. They can likely be comfortably administered as oral pills. This is significant because no other company has thus far been able to do this with small molecules. There are no approved LPL drugs in dyslipidaemia, even though LPL is considered to be one of the four most important targets (see our <a href="https://www.redeye.se/research/836264/lipigon-expert-in-blood-lipid-diseases">initiating coverage</a>, p. 13). P3 is similar to Lipisense, Lipigon’s main candidate, in that it likely reduces blood triglycerides, but it is intended for a larger market, including the very large market of cardiovascular disease prevention dominated by statins. Together, Lipisense and P3 could cover a large part of the dyslipidaemia market.

P3 is still in a comparatively early stage. The next step will be to explore the molecules further and select one or more lead candidates for optimization before preclinical studies can commence. Although we believe that the project is highly interesting, we do not include it in our valuation at this point as the path to an exit and its financing are unclear. It does provide positive optionality to the case and more potential for future growth.
